If you are planning on marrying in Thailand and want to ensure the marriage is legally recognized, you will need to spend a bit of time in Bangkok. There are many hotels in Bangkok which offer a wedding service, but make sure you are clear about what this includes. A wedding package may provide a ceremony, but it won't necessarily help with the legal aspect. To ensure your wedding is legally recognized you will need to visit your embassy or consulate and also regsiter the wedding at the district office. A list of district offices (which are known as 'khet' in Bangkok, but 'amphur' in other parts of Thailand) can be found at the bottom of this page.
The following links to local Bangkok wedding planners are probably more relevant if you or your partner can speak Thai (or have a
friend who can speak Thai). As these companies serve a mainly local clientele, the rates are usually considerably cheaper than those
charged by the major hotels who tend to cater for overseas visitors getting married in Thailand.

Although they don't always advertise a wedding package, some boutique hotels in Bangkok pride themselves on
a personal service and will often be delighted to help you arrange a wedding ceremony if you are staying at their
hotel. This often works out better value than going through one of the bigger hotels and may be particularly suitable for a small, intimate
wedding with just a few guests.
