Isaan
The Isaan region actually covers a vast area of the north-east of Thailand. Whilst it may not be as popular as some other areas of Thailand, Isaan is arguably one of the most traditional parts of the country and is a region where many of the old wedding traditions are still followed. Isaan people know how to celebrate so be prepared for an extended wedding party.

In Ko Lanta, Maj-Britt from Lanta Diver has been organizing weddings for the past 8 years. Working with a number of different resorts, she aims to provide a ceremony exactly in accordance with the couple’s wishes. Couples can choose to use a priest or have a civil ceremony. When using a priest, they use a Swedish protestant minister who has apparently lived and worked in Thailand for over 30 years. For civil ceremonies a layman is used. In both cases the marital vows can be registered and the wedding made legal in the home countries. Maj-Britt is also able to arrange flowers, professional photography, musicians and entertainers.
As of June 2007, there is no mention of the wedding service on the Lanta Diver website. Clearly their main business is diving and watdee.com assumes
weddings are something that are arranged as a helpful additional service.
